As a part of the Builders & Remodelers Association, the Council provides educational training and resource services to target those specialized needs. Washtenaw Remodelers Council members enjoy many opportunities to increase their professional knowledge through discussions and seminars, network with other building professionals, and assist the community by donating their talents. Fundraising for US Marine Corporal Kenny Bowen
|
SALINE, MI - Beginning in the summer of 2009 The Washtenaw Remodelers Council raised funds for Purple Heart Veteran and 2003 Saline High School graduate and Saline resident Kenny Bowen. While serving his 2nd deployment in Afghanistan, Kenny was in a humvee that hit an IED and was thrown from the vehicle. Kenny was burned over more than 40% of his body with 2nd and 3rd degree burns. Kenny is in and out of treatment and is at high risk of infection from the skin grafts and sunburn.
By November of 2009 the Washtenaw Remodelers Council, chaired by David Haig, built him and his family a cedar screened sun porch so they can enjoy the outdoors while at his family home where he will be based for the next 2 years.
Thanks to everyone who supported this project through hard work, volunteering, donations and sponsorships. Your efforts are greatly appreciated. To see photos of the project click here.
