Code Issues   Contact: Maureen Sloan: msloan@bragannarbor.com       News       Get Weekly Updates

The BRAG Ann Arbor is a strong advocate for members on code issues. Due to the efforts of the Builders and Remodelers Association of Greater Ann Arbor and MAHB, Michigan has adopted a single state construction code. Every community in the state of Michigan uses the same code book. No local jurisdiction can alter or amend the state code. However, it
does not mean that everyone interprets the code the same way.

Having problems with a building official on a code issue?  Do you feel that a department is
charging excessive fees?  Then let the BRAG Ann Arbor help. As part of membership services,
we assist members on code interpretations and enforcement issues.

WE will contact the appropriate official and the state to gain clarification on an issue.

The Bureau of Construction Codes & Fire Safety issues regular technical updates and bulletins.
