The Michigan Residential Code (MRC) took effect on Wed. Mar. 9, 2011. The Michigan Residential Code book have been published. You can obtain a code book for a discounted price by purchasing the soft cover edition through  the ICCSafe.org website for $81.50. However, the MRC does not contain the Michigan Uniform Energy Code. It must be purchased separately at a little over $40 from the same International code website. Be sure to click through the link above to get the Michigan Discount.

Having problems with a building official on a code issue? 
Do you feel that a department is charging excessive fees?  Then let the BRAG Ann Arbor help. As part of membership services, we assist members on code interpretations and enforcement issues.

WE will contact the appropriate official and the state to gain clarification on an issue.

April 2010 MIOSHA Update - Are You Ready if MIOSHA Visits Your Job Site?

As one BRAG Ann Arbor Member recently found out, MIOSHA can and will visit residential building sites to conduct inspections. As a matter of fact, MIOSHA inspectors have been directed to put a greater emphasis on residential construction sites. If you are not in compliance with the standard workplace safety rules, including the use of written safety plans, you will be fined. There are steps you can take to review your safety program to insure compliance. First, take time to read the MIOSHA website relative to construction rules, which you can link to as follows:
