Scholarship Information

Description

The Builders and Remodelers Association of Greater Ann Arbor offers several one-year, $500 - $2,000 educational scholarships, awarded to young people who reside in  Washtenaw County and who possess a strong desire to gain further education in a construction related field at a community college, trade school, university, or apprenticeship training program.

Criteria

The Career Development Committee of the Builders and Remodelers Association of Greater Ann Arbor, in conjunction with the Washtenaw Home Builders Association Foundation determines the selection of the scholarship winners. Decisions are based on the applicants' education plans, letter of recommendation, personal statement, grades, extra-curricular activities, and financial need.

Requirements

Scholarship awardees, in order to be eligible for the scholarship, must: 1) Maintain a 2.0 average; 2) Maintain a greater than 1/2 time course load each term or semester during which he or she is enrolled in school, or acceptable job training program; 3) Be pursuing an educational program, which in the opinion of the Committee, is related to construction. The scholarship winner must present proof of these requirements to the Committee on or before July 1st of the scholarship year. The scholarship winner must attend an award ceremony at a monthly meeting of the Association's membership. 

Payment of Scholarship

Payment of scholarship funds will be made directly to the educational institution in which the student is enrolled, or may, at the Committee's option, be made directly to the student upon receipt of proof of payment of tuition, fees, tools, winter clothing, transportation, or other educational expenses.

The purpose of the application is to provide the Committee with information upon which to evaluate the applicants, and to ensure that each applicant is aware of the terms and conditions upon which the scholarship is offered. Applications must be submitted by February 10th to:

Deadline

Please submit application and documentation to the Builders and Remodelers Association of Greater Ann Arbor by February 10th for consideration for the year's Scholarship. Scholarship winners are announced in March 1st.  Winners will be recognized at a future General membership meeting.
