The construction industry is a multi-billion dollar business, with more than 1.5 million new homes built each year nationally. Work in this field offers great pay and life long employment opportunities with high school diplomas, GED's or college degrees. Many careers in construction don't require a college degree and provide apprenticeship programs where you learn while you earn.

Training Opportunities
High school students can get some hands-on experience in a variety of trades by building a house in the local community. These classes are taken during junior and senior years of high school. Area program include:
Washtenaw Community College offers a post high school residential construction training program at their new H.S. Landau Residential Training Center.
Scholarship Opportunities
The BRAG Ann Arbor also offers scholarships for area students who wish to further their education in a construction related field at a trade school, community college, university or apprenticeship program.
