Tune in Friday to listen to this interview with a pioneer of Green Building Bob Burnside, CGB, CGP is the Owner of Fireside Home Construction, based in Dexter and established in 1996. The company's many awards and achievements are the 1st Leed Platinum new home in Michigan. Bob Burnside is the incoming President of The Builders and Remodelers Association of Greater Ann Arbor (BRAG Ann Arbor) for 2013.
This discuss focuses on what we can do to improve our homes while improving the impact building can have on the environment. Tips will include ways to save money on energy costs, buying local, reducing waste and more. Bob also explains how important communication and prompt service is to any successful construction project.
The builder or remodeler will offer alternatives, and let the client decide what is best for them. Remodeling may be a bit more limiting than new construction in terms of what can be done. Bob can explain some of the things that can be done to remodel green including:
• Retrofitting windows, doors, walls, etc., • Updating appliances and mechanical systems • Choosing local products • Choosing renewable products • Reducing building waste
